Weekly meet: November 6th, 2012

Come work on your projects at Gainesville Hackerspace! If you have a project you’d like to work on in the company of others, bring it on down. We have tools, knowhow, and lots of people who would love to participate.

If you’re planning to attend the Arduino workshop this weekend, come do a little Arduino pre-game warmup!

Hackerspace Demo Night: October 16th, 2012

Hackerspace Demo Night is a monthly demonstration of awesome projects by Hackerspace members. Admission is free and open to all.

The next Hackerspace Demo Night will happen on Tuesday, October 16th, 2012 at 7:00pm.

What’s being demoed tonight:

  • Allen: Using a router
  • John Sawyer: Metasploit Modules
  • Neil: A semantic web resource for chemists
  • cvk: Drive radio-controlled toy cars from your web browser using an Arduino
  • Devin: What is programming?
  • Quinn: Espresso Machine
  • Justin: Colour Bind
  • Chris Lane: Overlord

Patty’s glow-in-the-dark worms

Patty from the Cade Museum showed us how to make our own glow-in-the-dark worms at Demo Night on September 18th.

They looked really cool under UV light!

Devin’s sous-vide steak

This is some if the steak that Devin cooked in his homemade sous vide machine at Demo Night on September 18th.

After the steak came out of the water bath, Devin caramelized the surface with a blowtorch to make it look and taste awesome.
